地理位置
布里斯托尔市是英国西南地区最大的城市（人口超过400,000），也是该地区商业、文化和教育的杰出中心。布里斯托尔市目前的主要经济动力来源于工程、航天工业与各项新技术部门，以及金融服务、媒体行业和旅游业。

由于埃文河（River Avon）流经布里斯托尔市，所以本市在过去一千年中一直都是个港口城市。市中心的古老码头在今天则已被改建成文化娱乐场所。本市人均拥有的绿地面积要比英格兰其他任何一个城市都高。布里斯托尔无疑是一座现代化的都市，交通网络四通八达，通信系统也非常发达。
优良的公共交通网络将布里斯托尔市的各项现代化设施连接起来。乘穿梭公共汽车或出租车去布里斯托尔市国际机场，只需20分钟；乘火车去伦敦也只需90分钟。
住宿
在截止日期之前接受大学录取的所有全日制国际单身新生，大学保证安排他们的住宿。在以后的几年中，如果他们愿意，也可申请大学宿舍。
大学目前为学生提供约4,000个宿舍，几乎三分之二的一年级住宿是在包伙食的宿舍楼内。自己举炊的住宿则安排在学生住房和某些为单元公寓式的宿舍楼中。一些学生住在市中心，而另一些则住在郊区， 靠近开阔的绿野，视野遍及埃文峡谷美景的Downs区（开阔绿野）。频繁往来的巴士服务，将这些大学宿舍与教学楼和城市的其他部分连接起来。
大学的住宿办公室位于学生会大楼的四层，处理学生的住宿申请。此外，它还为住宿问题，如家庭住宿，提供信息与建议。大学附近还有私人住宿，每周租金在£55-£70之间，这不包括生活设施费用。
体育设施与活动
布里斯托尔市的体育活动中心是体育、锻炼与健康中心。该中心容纳双场地体育馆、锻炼大厅和一个综合健身房。体育馆的楼厅兼作跑道，一个锻炼大厅还是本校武术和击剑俱乐部所在地。
许多运动联队俱乐部使用这个中心，校内还组织多种活动，提供五人半场足球和混合曲棍球联队。大学的游泳池位于学生会大楼下边，它用于比赛和娱乐游泳，以及其他水上运动，如水球、潜水和独木舟划水练习。室外运动可在Coombe Dingle运动综合体进行，该综合体造价超过两千万英镑。它有泛光灯照耀、国际标准的两个人工曲棍球场（其中一个为水基的），而草坪的覆盖面积超过30英亩。喜欢打网球的学生，可使用室内网球场和十个室外球场，其中的四个有泛光灯照耀。
计算机设施
九个学生宿舍楼都有计算机房，内设电脑和打印机，可24小时使用（Badock和University Halls例外）。电脑与大学的网络相连接，可供同学使用电子邮件、万维网和各种学习资源。住在大学宿舍内自己有电脑的学生，只需每年交一些费用，即可使用宿舍网络（ResNet）的服务，这样他们就可从自己的书房直接连到大学的网络上。
图书馆
大学的主图书馆藏书超过一百万册，订阅期刊6,000多种。主图书馆构成图书馆系统的核心，它得到大学内其他12个分馆的支持。
